Sidewalk cafes are an important part of urban beauty and comfort in the City of Miami Beach. Cafe Index monitors the quality and appearance of sidewalks cafe across a broad range of factors. Sidewalk cafes are examined for factors such as: cleanliness, presentation, functioning furniture, good customer service, and hawking. Hawking, or the solicitation of customers from passersby is closely monitored. Sidewalk cafes are also assessed on –if, how often, and how aggressive instances of hawking’s occur on their premises.
